Fitness bands for your home gym
Fitness bands – also known as resistance bands – are versatile training aids made from latex or rubber that provide resistance when stretched. HAMMER, the European market leader in fitness equipment, offers fitness bands in all resistance levels and designs – from lightweight therapy bands right through to heavy-duty loop bands for pull-up assistance and intensive strength training. Affordable, space-saving and effective: HAMMER fitness bands are the perfect training tool for at home, on the go and for rehabilitation.
What are fitness bands?
Fitness bands (resistance bands) are elastic training aids made from natural latex or synthetic rubber, which generate progressively increasing resistance when stretched. HAMMER offers four main types: Loop Bands (long loops, 100–210 cm), Mini Bands (short loops for leg and hip training), Tube Bands with handles (for classic strength exercises) and Fabric Bands (fabric bands for skin-friendly leg exercises).
Who are fitness bands suitable for?
Fitness bands are suitable for beginners looking to start strength training in a space-saving way, athletes seeking to improve activation and mobility, those learning to do pull-ups for assisted pull-ups, rehab patients looking for joint-friendly strengthening, and travellers seeking a complete set of training equipment for on the go.
Which resistance level is best for beginners?
HAMMER resistance bands are colour-coded according to resistance: Yellow/light (5–15 kg): for rehabilitation and shoulder exercises. Green/medium (15–35 kg): for general strength training and pull-up assistance for women. Blue/strong (35–60 kg): for advanced exercises and pull-up assistance for men. Black/extra-strong (60–90 kg+): for powerlifting support.

FAQ
- Are resistance bands effective for strength training?
Yes – studies show that resistance bands produce similar muscle activation patterns to free weights. The progressive resistance increases as the band is stretched, which provides new muscle stimulation. HAMMER recommends fitness bands as a useful addition to machine training, not as the sole training tool.
- What is the difference between a loop band and a mini band?
A Loop Band is long (100–210 cm) and versatile – suitable for pull-up assistance, bench press assistance and mobility exercises. A Miniband is short and wide – ideal for glute and leg exercises, warm-ups and activation exercises. HAMMER offers both versions individually and as a set.
- How long do HAMMER fitness bands last?
HAMMER fitness bands, made from high-quality natural latex, are designed to last for several years when cared for correctly (store in a dry place, protect from direct sunlight). Important: Do not overstretch the bands (max. 2.5 times their resting length) and watch out for sharp edges.
- Should you buy a set of fitness bands or individual ones?
For beginners, HAMMER recommends a set with 3–5 resistance levels – this ensures you’re ideally equipped for all exercises and muscle groups. Advanced users can add individual strengths as required.
